The meeting was held in the frameworks of the first graduation ceremony of the Nazarbayev University and was attended by senior officials of the Ministry of Education and Science, along with Agency for Civil Service Affairs and Fighting Corruption.
The Secretary of State underscored the high level of bilateral relations between the two countries and emphasized the role of the founding father of independent Singapore Lee Kuan Yew in strengthening friendly relations. She said mutual visits take place regularly at various levels. At that, one of the main international strategic partners of the Nazarbayev University’s Graduate School of Public Policy is the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy at the National University of Singapore.
Gulshara Abdykalikova also told the attendees about the progress made in the implementation of the five institutional reforms put forward by President Nursultan Nazarbayev, which are aimed at the formation of modern, professional and independent state apparatus, ensuring implementation of economic programmes and proper provision of public services. The Secretary of State noted that Singapore has made great strides in this direction and expressed her readiness to cooperate more effectively in the field of training of talented youth and their career promotion, including within the framework of the international Bolashak scholarship.
Representatives of the Singapore delegation, in turn, shared their country's successful experience in the field of corruption prevention, which is evidenced by the Singapore’s high positions in the Corruption Perceptions Index. The Secretary of State noted that Kazakhstan is also interested in the experience of Singapore in the field of large-scale anti-corruption propaganda.
Closing the meeting, Gulshara Abdykalikova expressed her confidence that the mutually beneficial partnership between the Graduate School of Public Policy of the Nazarbayev University and Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy at the National University of Singapore will contribute to further development of human potential in Kazakhstan.
