President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev receives Prime Minister of Georgia Mammuk Bakhtadze

May 15, 2019

The Head of State has congratulated Mamuk Bakhtadze on the upcoming Independence Day of Georgia and wished the friendly Georgian nation well-being and prosperity.

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev recalled that the First President, Leader of Nation Nursultan Nazarbayev, was at the origin of bilateral cooperation, and stressed that from the very beginning of establishing diplomatic relations he personally took part in their development.

- I remember the visits of our First President – Leader of Nation to Georgia, the visits of your leaders to Kazakhstan. We can state that cooperation between our countries is developing well, the President of Kazakhstan said.

The Head of State noted that Kazakhstan is one of the main investors in the economy of Georgia. According to him, the total amount of investments to date has exceeded 450 million dollars.

- We consider Georgia as a friendly state; there are no problems between us. Our delegations actively cooperate and there is collaboration in international organizations. In Kazakhstan there is a Georgian Diaspora of about 60 thousand people, which takes the most active and constructive part in the country’s life. I believe that your visit will give impetus to further cooperation between our states,  Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said.

In turn, the leader of the Georgian government noted the traditionally warm welcome of the Kazakh side and especially thanked the President and the people of Kazakhstan for their firm position on  sovereignty and territorial integrity of Georgia and for their support at the international level.

- By virtue of my work, I have been lucky to visit Kazakhstan many times. Our nations are bound by centuries-old bonds of friendship, we are very proud of that. I would like to emphasize the historical role and invaluable contribution of the First President of Kazakhstan Nursultan A. Nazarbayev to the strengthening of our relations, Mr. Bakhtadze said.

The meeting has also considered prospects for cooperation in the trade, economic, tourism, humanitarian, and investment spheres. The interlocutors discussed the possibility of enhancing the transit transport connection, including through the ports of Aktau and Kuryk as part of the trans-Caspian international transport route.
