Meeting with Prime Minister of Japan Shinzo Abe, paying an official visit to Kazakhstan

October 27, 2015

Nursultan Nazarbayev congratulated Shinzo Abe on his recent reelection and wished him continued success, especially in light of the current complicated economic situation in the world.

“Our countries have experienced the tragic consequences of nuclear weapons testing. Therefore I put forward an initiative of the global anti-nuclear movement, and we fully support your initiatives in this area as well,” he said.

The President stressed that the symbol of friendship between the two countries is the capital city Astana, which was designed by outstanding Japanese architect Kisho Kurokawa. Moreover, the development of a new international university in the capital is managed by the Shigeo Katsu, the representative of Japan.

The Head of State also expressed confidence that Shinzo Abe’s first official visit to Kazakhstan will give a powerful impetus to the strategic partnership between Astana and Tokyo and bring it to a qualitatively new level.

Shinzo Abe, in turn, noted that this was the two leaders’ fourth meeting.

“And it gives me great joy that on the basis of close relations, we are actively developing our relations,” he said.

Prime Minister of Japan also noted that he arrived in Kazakhstan with a delegation representing the business community and hopes for some specific results.
