In her opening address Gulshara Abdykalikova stressed that the Head of State put up the cultural development as one of the state policy priorities. We are bringing into being a modern culture management model that will facilitate Kazakhstan’s joining the 30 most developed countries of the world.
Cultural Policy Concept is being successfully implemented within the country. More than 700 publishers and book publishing organizations are fruitfully functioning. More than 11 thousand libraries have hospitably thrown open their doors. On behalf of the President of Kazakhstan the Kazakh National Electronic Library fund is consistently expanding, amounting to 18 thousand bibliographic records. At present every 4th citizen of the country is a reader.
The event was held in celebration of the 25th anniversary of Kazakhstan’s Independence. That cultural and educational event in the Eurasian space is intended to combine publishing, bookselling, research, educational and printing companies of the CIS countries, Europe and Asia on one great intellectual platform. The book fair is being attended by over 80 companies from 20 countries of near and far abroad, including from Russia, Belarus, China, Germany and other countries.
The idea of the Eurasian International Book Fair is actualized in the framework of the Head of State’s Nation Plan "100 Specific Steps" to turn Astana into a business, cultural and research centre of Eurasia.
During her attendance at the Eurasian International Book Fair «Eurasian Book Fair-2016" the Secretary of State inspected the exhibitions of presented books and wished to rise to the level of international book exhibitions-fairs like in Frankfurt, Moscow and Beijing.
