Within the framework of the working consultation meeting of the heads of the Central Asian states Nursultan Nazarbayev met with Shavkat Mirziyoyev, President of Uzbekistan.
The Head of the State highlighted Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s part in the development and strengthening of bilateral relations.
- We have already met several times, and everything that we have been talking about, is being implemented and working. This year, you have done a great job; you have established relationships with neighbouring countries, solved the matters that have not been solved for decades. I am grateful to you for the huge work you are doing in Uzbekistan, and it has a strong influence on all countries of our region, the President of Kazakhstan said.
Nursultan Nazarbayev emphasized the significant nature of the present working consultation meeting, the idea of which was proposed by the President of Uzbekistan.
- We are meeting with all our colleagues to discuss and solve our economic problems and everyday issues. This year we are expected to have many such meetings: the meeting initiated by you on Afghanistan, the meeting of the Turkmen side on the Aral Sea and other events, the President of Kazakhstan said.
In his turn, the President of Uzbekistan expressed gratitude for the opportunity to visit Kazakhstan and thanked Nursultan Nazarbayev for the working consultation meeting of the heads of the Central Asian states organized in a short time.
- I would like to express my gratitude for the fact that you supported Uzbekistan’s initiative to hold a consultative meeting. Nursultan Abishevich, you have always been an advocate of integration since the first days of independence and have always said at all meetings that we need to unite, cooperate and communicate, the President of Uzbekistan said.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev also noted the political will of the President of Kazakhstan to address topical issues of bilateral cooperation.
-I am sincerely glad that currently only railway transportations have increased by 44%, and in general the trade turnover between our countries has reached two billion dollars, and as we have agreed with you, we will bring this figure to five billion dollars, the President of Uzbekistan said.
