The United States of America, Washington D.C.

During the meeting the sides discussed main directions of bilateral cooperation, including cooperation in trade, economic, political, cultural and humanitarian sphere.

Nursultan Nazarbayev noted that the recent visit of Shinzo Abe to Astana brought the relations between Kazakhstan and Japan to a qualitatively new level, which is proved by the active work of both governments for the implementation of the agreements reached during the visit.

The President stressed that the theme of the Summit is close to the people of Kazakhstan and Japan, who suffered effects of nuclear weapons testing, and therefore the position of the two countries in the global anti-nuclear movement are similar.

Prime Minister of Japan, in turn, congratulated Nursultan Nazarbayev and the people of Kazakhstan on the upcoming 25th anniversary of Independence and the successful elections to the Majilis of Parliament.
